“help wanted” 30-second TV comp • 3.16.21

VO Script below.

Tony VO:

Hey everyone… I’m here with a little update from Cornerstone Builders. (Pause for effect.) Business… is good. As in very good. As in: we now need to hire professionals in a number of categories, from carpenters, plumbers and painters to electricians and dry-wallers. Seems like everyone wants to "go for wow" these days, and I’m not letting anyone down. Qualified candidates will earn a fair salary, and a boatload of benefits. For details, go to GoForWow.com.

I only had to do one scratch VO for this exercise because all spots – save for Concept #1 – are the same VO formula we’ve done before. Concept #1 is the only that = new ground for Cornerstone.

Scratch VO for Concept 1

I would not use this piece of music, but for now, it makes for an appropriate mood-setter. As for the VO, imagine that each time the copy mentions a venue (all-night diner, office, cabaret, etc) the audience hears – but doesn’t see – a family doing what families do. For example: when the VO says “Grand Central Station” we hear mom hurrying the kids off to school. Throughout the spot, we show beauty shot after beauty shot of an awesome CS kitchen. (With maybe a few screen-type call-outs.) Overall: this spot positions the family kitchen as the heart of “everything family” and telegraphs everything from “we get it” to “call Cornerstone if you want it done right.” Depending on the timing, it may be possible to create versions of this spot with offers. (Discussable.) The other concepts are in the PDF attached.

At 2 AM, it’s a cozy, all-night diner. (SFX: the sounds of a couple in a diner late at night.)

In the morning it’s Grand Central Station.  (SFX: kids getting ready for school, husband late, etc.)

Through the day, it’s an office, classroom, coffee nook and occasional cabaret. (SFX: etc.)

Dinner is the best… which is why every seat… is the best seat in the house. (SFX: family chaos / fun).

Your new kitchen? (All type.)

Make it Cornerstone. Go for wow. (Logo sequence.)
