On top: the agency’s website in it’s final iteration. (It was the first website to use video as a navigational technique – hit the play button for a demo, which also includes an early brand video.) The site won “Best of Interactive” and served us well for years. Below: a few clients in their own words, as read by a Hollywood A-lister. We used videos like this one in presentations.
The + Me History:
Holton Sentivan + Gury began as Holton Namiotka Jones (HNJ) in 1985. Jack Holton founded the agency with Carol-Lynne Namiotka, the agency’s chief writer, Creative Director, and one-time protege of advertising legend Steve Cosmopulos. (Who actually stopped by now and then.) Jack and Carol-Lynne ran the business out of a converted barn – and then a year and some 25/30 employees later, moved to a 200 year-old, 3-story inn (and one-time brothel) in Lafayette Hill, PA. The work had a distinctly British flair at first, thanks to a veteran copywriter / senior art director team from London – and clients found HNJ's wit and wisdom both charming and effective. (Note: HNJ took home an Addy Best of Show in its 2nd year.)
I came onboard in the 90s, when the British writer traded advertising in for sailing. (I had to audition. Carol-Lynne had an odd way of hiring people.) Soon after, Bradley Gast joined the agency as an ACD, and he taught me more in 2 years than I would have ever learned otherwise. Around 2001, Carol Lynne traded advertising in for horse-riding, and I took over as Creative Director. I became a partner along with Carl Teitelman in the mid 00’s, and HNJ became HTG. Then after Carl left, HTG became HS+G (I added the + because I needed space) when I hired Drew Sentivan. Jack, Drew and I parted ways in 2016, though we still occasionally work together on certain projects. (Some of that work is on this site, but most of it is from the agency’s last few years – save for a few older TV and radio spots which I just can’t let go.)
The ideas, words and the strategic thinking represented on these pages are mine, and I continue to update the site. The latest additions: a website for a law firm (DBD, part of a rebrand) which launched in January 2017, and a new site for Omax 3 from Prevention Pharma, an extremely pure fish oil supplement that launched in August 2017. Most everything else = work done since 2013. (Maybe 20-25% is older.) Last, of the many really great art directors I’ve worked with through my career, the two most represented here are Drew Sentivan and Martin Frey.
